It seemed like things had started to look up for Lindsay Lohan -- until now. Despite mom Dina Lohan saying that her daughter is doing well in recovery, new reports show that the 24-year-old actress may have taken yet another major step backwards.
According to TMZ.com, law enforcement sources revealed to them that Lohan is currently "a suspect in a criminal battery investigation and the alleged victim -- a staff member at Betty Ford -- wants Lindsay prosecuted."
The alleged incident took place on Dec. 12 when the Palm Desert police received a call about "hand-to-hand battery" at the clinic where Lohan has been receiving treatment. When police arrived at the scene, they interviewed both the unnamed staffer and the actress
Sgt. Joe Borja of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department told People that "the incident is being investigated as a misdemeanor" and no arrest was made on the spot because the alleged incident didn't happen in front of an officer. TMZ additionally reported that after police finish up with the investigation, it will be handed over to prosecutors for review.
Lohan has been sentenced to stay at the Betty Ford Center until at least Jan. 3, but Judge Elden Fox, who has been overseeing her case, has not yet been notified of this latest incident. It's unknown whether the incident would be deemed a violation of Lohan's probation terms stemming from her ongoing DUI case. But if it is, Lohan could be looking at yet another stint behind bars.
